ADV Films subsequently released the mini TV episodes that comprised the rest of You're Under Arrest! Mini-Specials as well as the feature film You're Under Arrest! The Movie. The final frame of the last Japanese volume refers to a Taiho Shichauzo 2, which has not yet been serialized.ĪnimEigo licensed the initial OVA series, the first television series, and the only full-length television episode of You're Under Arrest! Specials for North American release.
The English version of the manga was published by Dark Horse Comics, which only contained selected episodes from volumes 6 and 7 (reportedly at Fujishima's request, resulting in continuity confusion by some fans of the series ). The first two television series were aired with English subtitles on AXN Asia's networks in Southeast Asia and South Asia. Produced by Studio Deen, the series featured character designs by Atsuko Nakajima and music by Kō Ōtani and Yasunori Iwasaki.
A 26 episode sequel to the series also aired on TBS in 2001, followed by a third television series, You're Under Arrest: Full Throttle, which aired in 2006. An animated television series subsequently aired in Japan on Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) between 19, spanning a total of 52 episodes. The series was first adapted into a four-episode OVA series, directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, which was released in Japan in 1994. Most of the series reflects on the standing friendship between Miyuki and Natsumi as they deal with their personal lives and their jobs as police officers, with some being portrayed as slice of life stories. In reality, the Bokuto Hospital takes its place. However, the site where the Bokuto Police Station is supposed to be does not exist in the Sumida Ward. The majority of the series take place in the Greater Tokyo Area.
The series is largely episodic, and much of it focuses on the interaction between the main characters and the humorous supporting cast. The story revolves around Natsumi Tsujimoto and Miyuki Kobayakawa, two female members of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and the protagonists of the show as they are stationed at the fictional Bokuto Police Precinct located at Sumida, Tokyo. With his hunter's intuition, the Medicine Seller begins his investigation to discover the Form, the Truth, and the Reason before the Zashiki Warashi can kill again.Main article: List of You're Under Arrest characters The owner has reluctantly placed her in the last vacant room however, as she settles in, it quickly becomes clear that the room is infested by a lethal band of mononoke, the Zashiki Warashi. The Medicine Seller's journey leads him to an old-fashioned inn where Shino, a pregnant woman, has finally found a place to rest. He must begin his strange exorcisms with intense psychological analysis and careful investigative work-an extremely dangerous step, as he must first confront and learn about the mononoke before he even has the means to defeat it. When he locates one of these spirits, he cannot simply kill it he must first learn its Form, its Truth, and its Reason in order to wield the mighty Exorcism Sword and fight against it. The "Medicine Seller" is a deadly and mysterious master of the occult who travels across feudal Japan in search of malevolent spirits called "mononoke" to slay.
As he struggles to maintain himself physically and mentally through his shogi career, Rei must learn how to interact with others and understand his own complex emotions. The Kawamoto sisters, coping with past tragedies, also share with Rei a unique familial bond that he has lacked for most of his life. Akari, the oldest of the three girls, is determined to combat Rei's loneliness and poorly sustained lifestyle with motherly hospitality. However, not long after his arrival in Tokyo, Rei meets Akari, Hinata, and Momo Kawamoto, a trio of sisters living with their grandfather who owns a traditional wagashi shop. As a 17-year-old living on his own, Rei tends to take poor care of himself, and his reclusive personality ostracizes him from his peers in school and at the shogi hall. Seeking independence from his tense home life, he moves into an apartment in Tokyo. Due to this, he faces an enormous amount of pressure, both from the shogi community and his adoptive family.
Having reached professional status in middle school, Rei Kiriyama is one of the few elite in the world of shogi.
